World Contraception Day!

September 26th is World Contraception Day – a day of action that reminds us how important contraception is for a self-determined and healthy life. It makes it clear: Contraception means not only protection, but also freedom and security in relationships and in everyday life.
What's behind it?
World Contraception Day was launched in 2007. Its goal is to raise awareness of contraception worldwide, promote education, and improve access to contraception. The international motto is: "Your Life. Your Responsibility."
Facts & Figures from Germany
To provide you with real data – here are a few results from representative surveys conducted by the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA):
Contraceptive use among adults (18-49 years):
According to the BZgA 2023 study, condoms are the most commonly used contraceptive in Germany, with around 53% of people using them.
The birth control pill follows with approximately 38%.
→ This means that the condom has replaced the pill as the number one contraceptive for the first time.
Attitudes towards contraception:
More and more adults are questioning hormonal methods and are placing value on good tolerability and ease of use. Condoms are particularly effective due to their dual effect: protection against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
Why is this day important?
Contraception is an issue that affects everyone. It provides security, protects health, and enables independent decisions about one's own future.
